Nicki Minaj has renewed her long-running criticism of former US health official Anthony Fauci through a parody video and a series of sharply worded social media posts.
What prompted the posts
The rapper reacted after Fauci appeared before a US Senate committee and repeatedly invoked his constitutional right not to answer questions. The hearing examined decisions and records linked to the governmentās response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minaj posted a darkly filmed parody in which she impersonated Fauci writing in a diary. She also blamed pandemic-era policies for isolation, educational disruption and emotional harm. Some of her language was condemned online as excessively personal and threatening.
Political argument, not a factual finding
Minajās claims reflect her opinion and do not establish that Fauci personally caused the harms she described. Fauciās use of the Fifth Amendment is a legal right and is not, by itself, proof of wrongdoing.
The posts attracted support from some conservative commentators and criticism from people who questioned Minajās medical expertise and rhetoric. The exchange has revived debates that began when she publicly challenged COVID-19 vaccine guidance in 2021.
